When the Greenery Comes for You

“Kudzu Approaching in the Fog”, Aiken, SC, August 2020

Hello Friend,

I thought since it’s summer and very wet and green this year, I should look for interesting photos that showcase the lushness of South Carolina. Though, some of that lushness, when it gets going, doesn’t want to stop.

One of the themes I do like in photography is showing nature as it starts to reclaim the land, or if nothing else, grows outside the lines. And in the Southern US it can be kudzu, creeping vines or the ivy growing farther than it was intended. During a wet and hot summer, if you are standing still for too long, some fast, growing vine might could just wrap around your ankles and hold you in place. So, be aware and be warned.

Here is a small collection of some of our Southern greenery trying to reclaim both the natural and man-made.
