Striving to be a visual storyteller of nature, I work more with intimate landscapes. Often, those landscapes become so intimate, they are on the macro level. Playing with macro photography has opened up a small, new world for me. Choosing to separate my subjects from their surrounding environment allows me to emphasize their natural elegance. I direct the viewers’ eyes to concentrate on small parts of nature without other distractions. I do not remove the plant from its location; I want to show how it was in that place at that exact moment. I want my subjects to still be a part of the natural world around them, while being apart from it as well.

Almost all of these photos were taken in my own yard while working from home — mostly during the pandemic. I do not have a garden; I only have a few plants that grow here and there that I like to focus in on. I hope to demonstrate that even in the most uninteresting yard, there can be a very interesting world.

My first piece here “Balance” was awarded Honorable Mention in The Nature Conservancy 2022 Global Photo Contest.
